The hobby hidden behind your fear

When we talk about hobbies, we usually think of activities like painting, yoga, or reading. But sometimes, your true hobby isn't something obvious. It’s a feeling.

For me, I’ve always felt calm and grounded near water. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, a river, or even the sound of waves it brings me peace.

But I wasn’t always comfortable with water.

I had a scary experience with deep water when I was younger, and it stayed with me for a long time. Years later, I started feeling more at ease around water, and I thought… what if I leaned into this feeling instead of fear?

So I signed up for swimming lessons.

And something amazing happened.

As I swam, I noticed my body moving without me thinking about it. It was like my body already knew what to do stretching, floating, flowing. I felt free, peaceful, and completely in my element. It was healing. It was grounding. It was joy.

And it became a hobby.

Now I love swimming. I love floating. I love simply being in water. It helps me release energy and feel connected to myself in a way nothing else does.

Sometimes, what we fear isn’t something to avoid it might be a clue. A clue to what our soul already loves.
Maybe it’s even something from a past life, or simply part of our natural rhythm.

So next time you feel drawn to something that feels a little scary but also exciting… try it. Your next hobby might be hiding behind that fear.
