What does living in your truth really mean?
A client asked me a beautiful question recently.
"What is your truth?"
It made me pause and really think about my answer.
For me, my truth is very simple.
At the end of the day, when I am lying in bed, can I honestly say that I feel content with how I lived my day? Do I feel peaceful? Am I happy with the choices I made? Or am I exhausted, overwhelmed, resentful, and wondering why I pushed myself so hard again?
So often we blame work, family, relationships, or other people for how drained we feel.
But many times, we are the ones placing ourselves in those situations.
We overextend ourselves. We say yes when we want to say no. We people please. We make choices that are not aligned with who we truly are.
When we continue living this way, we disconnect from ourselves.
Living in your truth is not about being perfect. It is about making choices that honour your energy and your values. It is knowing what you can give without sacrificing your own well being.
When I end my day knowing I have done what I could, stayed true to myself, and respected my own limits, I feel at peace.
That feeling has become my definition of success.
Something else I have learned along this journey is the freedom that comes from letting go of expectations.
For years, I would tell my clients that expectations often lead to disappointment. I understood the words, but now I finally understand the feeling.
When we release expectations, we create space for acceptance. We stop trying to control every outcome and begin trusting the journey instead.
I have also noticed another change within myself.
As someone who spent many years people pleasing, I now have much less tolerance for situations that are not aligned with my values. I used to worry about disappointing people. Today, I choose peace instead.
Sometimes I even joke that I have become a people unpleaser.
The difference is that I no longer feel guilty for protecting my energy. I know that saying no to what drains me allows me to say yes to what truly matters.
That is what living in my truth feels like.
It is not loud. It is not dramatic. It is simply peaceful.
If you are feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of what your truth looks like, know that you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we can uncover the patterns that are keeping you stuck and help you reconnect with the version of yourself that feels peaceful, aligned, and authentic.
If you are ready to begin your healing journey, I would love to support you. Book an appointment through this link and take the first step toward living in your truth.
With love,
Christine
